โ€˜Describe the journey from 1 Airbnb to 200 Airbnbs to CEO/hotel developerโ€™ Itโ€™s all about the founder's relationship to โ€˜Tasksโ€™ and killing the inner hustler. 1. Hustlers do tasks 2. Operators build systems and manage people to execute tasks 3. CEOโ€™s build the opportunity A business canโ€™t grow with one person doing all of the tasks. Hereโ€™s a brief timeline of my journey ๐Ÿ‘‡1 Airbnb: Solopreneuer. Hustler. I did everything! 100% of the tasks.10 Airbnbs: Soloprenuer. Hustler. I did everything. 100% of the tasks, but made lots of money. 25 Airbnbs: Hustler. I hired people. I used words like processes and systems. I did 50% of the tasks. 100 Airbnbs: Big hustler! I met with SaaS salespeople, I talked about valuations, and I had metrics. But still, I did 35% of the tasks. 200 Airbnbs. I thought I was an operator. I wasnโ€™t. I was a super big hustler. And still, I did 25% of the tasks. CEO: 95% of my time is hiring, budgets, sales, investor relations, preproduction, leading meetings, site tours, management. Itโ€™s not easy, but I do 0% of the tasksWhere are you on the journey?

๐Ÿš€ Exciting Update! ๐ŸŒŸLast month marked my 2-year journey at Travclan, and it's been an incredibly transformative experience! From taking ownership of responsibilities to thriving in high-pressure situations, every step of my journey has sculpted my work ethic and mindset. Each diverse experience has played a role in shaping the professional I am today. Hereโ€™s a glimpse into how these experiences have contributed to my growth and capabilities:1.Operations Excellence:I started as an operations associate and grew to lead hotel operations, focusing on day-to-day operations, process optimization, and problem-solving. Managing API integrations, negotiating deals, and ensuring customer satisfaction were key parts of my journey. This involved direct engagement with hotel chains and API partners to secure optimal deals for our B2B agents, resulting in a remarkable 6x revenue growth in just 12 months. 2.Cross-Functional & Diverse Experience:I collaborated closely with the product team, contributing to feature enhancements, improved user journeys, and efficient backend operations. As a Business Manager, I took charge of PnL responsibilities, focusing on pricing strategies and enhancing profitability. Additionally, I worked hand-in-hand with the internal marketing team to package hotel deals effectively and strategize marketing campaigns for sales acceleration.3.Team Leadership & People Skills:Transitioning into a managerial role, I gained invaluable experience in team management and leadership. Building and nurturing a high-performing team became a priority, emphasizing focus, determination, and capability development within team members to drive results. Understanding the importance of empathy and recognizing individual needs, I provided opportunities for growth and career advancement, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning for my team.I'm grateful to our founders, Chirag Agrawal & Arun Bagaria, for their unwavering mentorship, trust, and belief in non-linear growth. Airbnb launched Icons!Brian Chesky, CEO Airbnb in an interview with Bob Safian on Masters of Scale (Rapid Response) said that Icons are to change the consumer mindset from stays to experiences. These are 04 Big Takeaways/learnings from Brian's interview:1. Brand Repositioning: - Airbnb's future is experiences - changing the consumer mindset from 'just stays' to experiences.- Icons are for building some muscle that will unleash more experiences by the next year2. Marketing = Education- Airbnb's Barbie Dream house(https://lnkd.in/g3PfE6vw), was more of a marketing campaign for experiences - this was their highest ROI marketing campaign!- Airbnb is majorly marketed for family and group travellers - 80% of the bookings are for 2 or more people.- Airbnb spends over a billion on marketing which is still half of what their competitors(mostly OTAs) spend on marketing.3. It is not 01 Idea but 1000 Ideas:- Don't do it for results, do it for process- Consistency is the only thing that rewards- Change your body = Change your life - Brian's biceps has been in talks recently though he has been into body building since he was 16. 4. No one is born being a good CEO- You just become founder one day and then you go from world class founder to a crappy CEO.- It is not always strategy, sometimes you have to do the Reverse engineering! As I see, the travel economy is moving fast into community and experiences selling. Even, Netflix's founder' Reed Hastings' Powder Mountain is another example of selling experiences in the future(majorly a part of travellers' economy). As the travel economy shifts towards community and experiences, we at QuGo are leading the charge with our tech-driven, community-first approach. If you're passionate about shaping the future of travel, we want you on our team, do reach out to me on udit.tarkar@qugo.io.We are hiring for Multiple Roles: - Community Builders- Operations Head- Operations Executive- Relationship Manager- GDS Manager- Sales Executives- Full Stack Developer#traveltechnology #communitybuilding

Good morning - below is the sales formula that drove Airbnb to success in their early days. I believe it can help individuals in their career growth as well. It is this:SW + SW + WC = MOTranslation? Here you go:Some will, Some won't, Who cares, Move on :)Simply put, some people will buy into you and your ideas and what you want to achieve. Some people won't. Who cares, move on and keep moving forward! It is an easy formula to understand, perhaps not so easy to apply to your life. In my mind, what I get out of it is this: keep taking your shots and you are going to find greatness in your life, if you don't give in to the negative voices and you keep going. You lose when you quit, even if in the moment you feel like you are losing, you haven't truly lost until you give up!Have a great week!#collegegraduates #collegestudents #jobseekers #mondaymotivation

Believe in your long term Goals and Purpose ! I'm finishing reading the book The Cold Start Problem" by Andrew Chen, I highly recommend it, especially for companies focused on network effects and multiple sides of a market. One of the amazing stories featured in the book is that of Airbnb. We are all familiar with Airbnb's success, so I won't delve into its history. Instead, I'd like to focus on how Airbnb managed to outperform a younger and stronger competitor by solely relying on their deep understanding and focus towards their hard side of customers (property owners) When Airbnb was just 2 years old, a competitor named Wimdu emerged with $90 million in funding, while Airbnb had only raised $2 million. Wimdu grew rapidly, boasting 50,000 properties across 100 countries and generating over $130 million in revenue within a year. However, just 2 years later, Wimdu disappeared from the market. Why?The key lessons ๐Ÿƒโ™‚๏ธ Airbnb was founded with a long-term vision, whereas Wimdu was ultimately interested in being sold to another company (they even considered a merger with Airbnb after their first year of operations).๐Ÿ’ช Airbnb understood the importance of building a robust network and dedicated their efforts to helping property owners. Wimdu focused on achieving impressive financial numbers in their reports. ๐Ÿ“ˆ ๐Ÿ˜ Despite being aware that Wimdu had better funding and faster growth, Airbnb remained confident in their #purpose and had a strong determination to succeed in the long run. That's the strong that came from a clear and purposeful vision and a commitment to overcome difficulties.

To everybody building a company: Here are some surprising insights from an interview with Brian Chesky of Airbnb. Airbnb did NOT have a management team until 2012. They did not even have a structure for company meetings. By then, they had 1,500 employees across multiple countries!๐Ÿ” ๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ฑ๐˜‚๐—ฐ๐˜ ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜† ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ธ๐˜€Brian would ask his customers: What experience would make you tell all your friends about it? He would then plot out this 10-star-experience and work backwards from it. In the early days an intern would manually reach out to EVERY new host and connect them with a photographer. She would review every single photo of the apartment. She would upload all photos on behalf of the supplier. All done in spreadsheets and via email. That intern still works for airbnb (at the time of recording)๐Ÿ”— ๐—–๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ฝ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜† ๐˜€๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ฒ๐˜€According to Brian Chesky, there are only two phases of building a company.Just this:1. Designing a magic experience2. Scaling the experienceThere is nothing else. ๐Ÿ˜ฐ ๐—›๐˜‚๐˜€๐˜๐—น๐—ฒWhen customer request did not get an answer within 30 seconds, an pager alarm would go off. No matter the time of the day, a customer service agent would roll out of bed and answer immediately.โ„น Interesting observation in retrospect:In the interview, Brian focuses much of the time talking about "Airbnb trips". He is excited about designing the "perfect trip" that would feel like a Hollywood movie. The apartment would just be a small feature of the overall experience. It all sounds super logical.A few years later, airbnb killed most of these adjacent activities and re-focused on just the apartment rental.๐”ฝ๐•ฆ๐•Ÿ ๐•—๐•’๐•”๐•ฅ: The interview is from 2018. I love finding these old gold nuggets on Spotify. Find the link in the comments.

"Tell me about a product you admire and why?" This is one of the common interview questions you might face as an aspiring product manager during your product management interview process. Here's how you can handle it:1. Choose WiselySelect a product that resonates with you on a personal level or has made a significant impact in the industry.2. Focus on FeaturesHighlight specific features or aspects of the product that you admire, such as its user experience, innovation, or impact on solving a particular problem.3. Back it Up with ExamplesShare a compelling story or example of how the product has positively affected your life or the lives of others. This could include how it streamlined a process, improved efficiency, or provided a delightful user experience.Example:One product I truly admire is Airbnb. Not only does it revolutionize the travel industry, but it also fosters a sense of community and belonging. I admire how Airbnb's platform connects travelers with unique accommodations and experiences worldwide. For instance, last summer, I planned a trip to Barcelona and used Airbnb to book a cozy apartment in the heart of the city. The seamless booking process, coupled with the personalized recommendations for local activities, truly enhanced my travel experience and left a lasting impression.By following these steps and providing a compelling example, you'll demonstrate your passion for products and your ability to analyze and appreciate their key attributes. Good luck! #ProductManagement #InterviewTips
