Casters have all the fun in Soulsborne games, and Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is no exception. There are plenty of new sorceries and incantations that you can use to annihilate your foes. Here's our guide on where to find all new spells in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. Likewise, please be reminded that this article contains spoilers.
All new DLC spells in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
We've numbered the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree spells based on when we visited each region during our playthrough. Note that some maps may have a star symbol, which denotes that the magical ability comes from a quest. Likewise, it bears mentioning that we did not list the spells that come from Remembrances. However, you can check out all of them in our boss Remembrances guide.

DLC spells in Gravesite Plain
The map above shows the location of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree spells in the Gravesite Plain region.
Watchful Spirit
Given to you by the Hornsent Grandam if you talk to her while wearing the Divine Beast Head, an armor piece dropped by the Divine Lion boss in Belurat. You can head to our Hornsent Grandam guide to learn about her other rewards.
Electrocharge
Go to the Fog Rift Catacombs, which is due north of the Castle Front Site of Grace. Keep exploring until you reach a large chamber with a massive falling spike trap, as well as a sorcerer that keeps shooting you with Glintstone spells from across the room. There are small nooks off to the side that allow you to avoid the spike trap. One of these nooks has a hole that you can use to drop down to the cellar. Take out the Oozeling enemies and pick up the spell item in the next room.
DLC spells in Scadu Altus and Rauh Base
The map above shows the location of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree spells in the Scadu Altus and Rauh Base regions.
Glintblade Trio
While exploring the ramparts of Castle Ensis, you're going to stumble upon an area where a hermit mage on a rooftop attempts to shoot you with magic spells. Take out this foe and move forward past the short bridgeway. Then, turn around and you'll see a ledge down below. Hop on the ledge and climb the ladder that takes you to the rooftop. Make your way around and you'll be able to drop down to grab this reward.
Golden Arcs
In Moorth Ruins, there's a building that has collapsed. Enter it and look for ledges that should break your fall as you drop down. Then, check the small room to grab this spell from right under the noses of cultists.
Heal From Afar
Cross the pond north of Moorth Ruins (the one with Surprised Emoji Worms). Enter the tunnel behind the statue and you'll come across a shrine where devotees are praying. This path also leads to Rauh Base.
Knight's Lightning Spear
To get this Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC spell, you must proceed deeper into the Scorpion River Catacombs until you have to cross a bridge that's guarded by a Death Blight Eye Statue. Look for a ledge along the right-hand side. Then, cross the gap and go through the corridor behind the statue. The spell is inside a small room guarded by two Imps.
Roar of Rugalea
Follow the river heading northeast until you reach the grassy hills. There, you'll face a mighty red bear named Rugalea. Defeat this beast to obtain a new magical incantation.
Miriam's Vanishing, Glintstone Nail, Glintstone Nails, Fleeting Microcosm, and Cherishing Fingers
These spells can be acquired by completing tasks for Ymir. You can learn more in our Finger Ruins quest guide.
DLC spells in Cerulean Coast, Charo's Hidden Grave, and Jagged Peak
These DLC spells in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree are found in the southern portion of the world map. That means you have to reach Cerulean Coast/Charo's Hidden Grave and the Jagged Peak.
Rings of Spectral Light
Follow the sloping path leading to an abandoned shrine swarming with Gravebirds.
Ghostflame Breath
Head to the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion and exchange 3x Dragon Heart to obtain this ability.
Multilayered Ring of Light
You'll travel to the Stone Coffin Fissure as part of Thiollier's quest. At the halfway point, you'll encounter a glowing beastkin. Take it out to receive this item.
Mass of Putrescence
Near where you obtained the Multilayered Ring of Light, there are some ledges and a sloping path that lead downward. You can grab this item from the lower section of the area.
DLC spells in Shadow Keep and Scaduview/Hinterlands
The map above shows the location of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree spells in Shadow Keep fortress and the Hinterlands beyond. It's worth noting that some of these items require you to gain access to the (a) flooded alternate path and (b) secret northeast region.
Aspect of the Crucible: Thorns
Obtained by defeating the Golden Hippopotamus boss at the main entrance.
Rain of Fire
At the Specimen Storehouse facility, ride the elevator to your left and follow the hallways until you arrive at the greatbridge. Proceed further and watch for the Rain of Fire magic being cast by a sorcerer named Salza. You'll receive this spell after killing her.
Fire Serpent
Continue climbing up the Specimen Storehouse by way of the alternate path (i.e. through the flooded section). You'll eventually come across this item, which is on a balcony.
Wrath From Afar
As you climb up via the alternate path, you'll reach the Storehouse - Loft area. You know what comes next? That's right... more climbing. Use ladders and lifts to reach the top. This spell is one of the rewards that await.
Mantle of Thorns
You must drain the flood waters in Shadow Keep. Once you've done that, go to the ground level and defeat the Ulcerated Tree Spirit.
Giant Golden Arc
Gain access to the hidden path in Shadow Keep that leads to Recluses River/Abyssal Woods. When you spawn at the Ruins of Unte, climb up the walls and toss a Hefty Furnace Pot inside the crown/basket of the Furnace Golem.
Take out this giant to enter the Ruins of Unte proper. You can learn about how to defeat these colossal creatures in our Furnace Golem guide.
Impenetrable Thorns
To obtain this DLC spell in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, you must drain the flood waters in Shadow Keep. Once you've done that, enter the main chapel and open the sealed doorway at the back. This leads to an underground section where you'll find this spell. Beyond this point is a major boss encounter.
Minor Erdtree
If you like healing and buffing, then be sure to pick up this incantation in the Shaman Village. The only way to reach it is by unlocking the secret zone in the northeast, also known as the Hinterlands. From there, follow the sloping path while ignoring the Tree Sentinels. The power-up is in the middle of a field of golden flowers.
Gravitational Missile
Still in the Hinterlands (i.e. secret northeast zone), you'll want to cross the bridge that leads to the Fingerstone Hill Site of Grace. Go up the hill to see a crater. As you approach, a Fallingstar Beast will spawn. Slay it to obtain its spell.
DLC spells in Ancient Ruins of Rauh
These DLC spells can be yours once you've reached the Ancient Ruins of Rauh.
Aspects of the Crucible: Bloom
The goal is to reach the northwestern temple complex, which happens to have a lot of Caelid Pests (i.e. Roachmen). From there, go through an opening that takes you to the side of the building. You should have a clear path to the base of a tower, whereupon you'll see a Pink Poison Flower. Kill it to obtain this reward.
Pest Thread Spears
Still in the temple complex, mount up on Torrent so you don't get afflicted with Scarlet Rot. You'll stumble upon this item in a corridor filled with Scarlet Rot and crawling with nasty Pests.
Divine Bird Feathers
Upon exiting the second level of the temple complex, you'll come across a gazebo in the middle of a pond. There's also a corpse here with an item.
Divine Beast Tornado
This is another variant of the Dancing Lion, one that also spawns Death Blight Toads. To reach this arena, you must gingerly walk across hidden ledges in the southwestern part of the temple complex. You can then take the lift back topside, and then follow the grand staircase to the temple in the distance. Just watch out for the Greatbow Golem that's keen on sniping you. DLC spells in Enir-Ilim
The only way to obtain this reward is by completing the objectives needed to unseal the Belurat Tower of Shadow.
Spira
Proceed further into Enir-Ilim until you reach the outdoor garden with several cultist and inquisitor enemies. In the distance, you'll notice an elevated platform and a golden tree. Traverse the branches carefully so you don't fall down the chasm. Then, take out the praying cultist and pick up this magic ability.
Furious Blade of Ansbach
You must complete the entirety of the Ansbach/Freyja quest line. You'll then be able to summon Ansbach as an ally during the final boss battle. Once you've defeated the boss, check near the entrance of the arena to pick up this loot.
